THE ROLE
The Director of Hardware Design Engineering will lead the development and execution of all hardware design initiatives within the organization. In this role, you will manage a team of verification, RTL, and PD engineers, oversee all related processes, develop and implement flows to ensure quality control, and work closely with other departments to deliver high-quality products on time and within budget.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
- Lead and manage a high-performance team, cross-discipline on complex projects that span multiple products
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to drive AMD's success
- Define, implement, and enforce engineering processes and best practices to improve productivity and product quality
- Develop and manage project plans to ensure project goals and milestones are met
- Work with executive team to develop strategies that align with business objectives
- Provide technical leadership and guidance to the engineering team
- Foster a culture of teamwork, collaboration, and innovation
- Develop and implement processes to ensure quality control throughout the development process
- Work with other departments to ensure that verification projects meet business requirements and timelines
- Monitor and report on project status, risks, and issues.
- Drive technical innovation and product differentiation by staying up-to-date with industry trends
- Evaluate new design tools and technologies and make recommendations for adoption
- Foster a culture of continuous learning and development among the team
- Strong people skills. Able to manage contentious discussions
- Recruit, develop, and retain top verification talent
WORK EXPERIENCE
- 10+ years of experience in hardware verification, with at least 5 years in a leadership role
- BS/MS in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, or equivalent experience
- Experience with hardware verification using industry-standard tools such as C++, SystemVerilog, UVM, and VCS
- Strong project management skills, including the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously
- Familiarity with Agile methodologies
- Excellent team management skills with the ability to motivate, inspire, mentor, and develop engineering teams
- Strong communication and presentation skills, both technical and non-technical
- Proven track record of delivering high-quality results on time and on budget
- Ability to work in a fast-paced, dynamic environment and adapt to changing priorities.
