FPGA Product Application Engineer

THE ROLE:
This role provides technical support for Xilinx FPGAs, SoCs, and ACAPs as well as the associated Xilinx tools, software drivers, and IP. The PAE works with customers, field engineers, technical marketing, and factory engineers in a worldwide team to rapidly resolve complex technical issues. The PAE enables customers to complete their designs and recommends improvements to AMD products. The environment is fast moving with a focus on emerging technologies.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Provide direct technical support to customers on critical design issues with an FPGA design and Ethernet IP focus
- Collaborate with cross functional team members to identify customer problems and propose appropriate solutions
- Advise customers on design techniques and the implementation of alternative solutions
- Develop tactical projects to explain or demonstrate product features
- Generate self-support materials including application notes, reference designs, and answer records
- Analyze customer cases and use data to influence product improvements
- Identify gaps in products, provide test cases and work with engineering to resolve issues
PREFERRED EXPERIENCE:
- Building, debugging, and deploying FPGA designs
- Experience designing and debugging Ethernet connectivity and protocols
- Experience with high speed serial transceivers and high speed signal integrity
- Computer architecture knowledge including interrupt, cache and peripheral standards (Ethernet, USB, I2C, UART, CAN, DisplayPort)
- Experience in VHDL, Verilog, C, C++, shell/Python scripting are beneficial
- Outstanding oral and written communication skills
- High initiative and self-starter
- Ability to communicate technical information in an organized and understandable fashion
- Customer oriented approach with a demonstrated concern and desire to work with and assist customers
- Good organizational skills with the ability to multitask, prioritize, and track many activities
ACADEMIC CREDENTIALS:
- BS/MS in Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or related equivalent degree
