This is an on-site role as the hiring team will require the student to work in the office throughout the entire duration of the co-op work term.

About the Department
The PCI Express Team is responsible for delivering the logic design and verification of several critical IP components and Sub-Systems into AMD’s Server, Desktop, Mobile, Embedded and Console microprocessors as well as Radeon Graphics products. The team uses the latest design and verification techniques and tools to implement complex digital designs with a focus on optimizing performance, power, and scalability. PCIe IPs are critical in the enablement for AMD products of industry standard high-speed protocols and functionality such as PCIe, CXL and USB. The PCIe IPs are uniquely positioned in the ecosystem of AMD’s high-speed IO solutions for the current and next generations of products.
The Role
Meeting the demands of the fast-changing project schedule, the successful candidate will assist the team in delivering cutting edge ASIC designs on time with high quality. He/she will demonstrate enthusiasm toward ASIC design, be a team player, a problem solver with independence, creativity, and organizational skills.
What you’ll be doing
- Provide assistance and work with high-speed digital circuit designs from definition to implementation, synthesis, timing closure, power analysis, Design for Test and other aspects of the ASIC flow.
- Own and execute some of the steps of design flow and co-ordinate with designer to resolve issues.
- Analyze and debug RTL designs in Verilog.

- Gain knowledge in overall computer architecture.

Requirements
- Completed courses related to basic digital design (VLSI, digital systems) and software engineering (data structures and algorithms, programming languages)
- Knowledge of basic digital circuits is required.
- Knowledge of scripting in Python or Perl is preferred.
- Knowledge of Verilog, System Verilog and C++ is a plus.
- Knowledge of PC system architecture is a plus.
- Basic UNIX knowledge is required, scripting is a plus.
- Possess problem solving and organizational skills with independence and creativity.
