Job Role and Responsibility: AMD, Inc., is hiring MTS Silicon Design Engineers to research, design, develop, and/or test electronic components and systems for semiconductor and related device manufacturing, employing knowledge of electronic theory. Oversee definition, design, verification, and/or documentation for ASIC development. Determine architecture design, logic design, and/or system simulation. Define module interfaces/formats for simulation. Lead the development of multidimensional designs involving the layout of complex integrated circuits. Evaluate all aspects of the process flow from high-level designs to synthesis, place and route, and timing and power use. Work with cross-functional teams including engineers to develop ASIC/layout design, working on complex issues where analysis of situations or data requires an in-depth evaluation of variable factors. Drive projects or processes of significant technical importance. Exercise independent judgment to select methods, techniques, and evaluation criteria for obtaining results. Responsible for projects or processes of significant strategic or commercial importance and for project/program results. Make technical decisions that have a significant impact on product families, go to market strategies and customer satisfaction. Responsible for project execution with significant influence on project/product time-to-market schedules. Work closely with colleagues to understand design architecture and to propose solutions to improve/enhance performance with given SoC/IP and markets. Micro-benchmarking, analyzing, and tracing various benchmarks, workload characterization, competitive analysis on various hardware platforms, identifying bottlenecks and proposing feedback and solutions for performance improvement. Develop tools and methodology for performance modeling, workloads analysis. Propose, communicate, and implement solutions to issues. Participate and present in executive reviews on product planning and execution. Participate in collaborative development and workload performance optimization with

AMD’s partners/customers. Utilize knowledge of or wide-ranging experience with computers and electronics, including circuit boards, processors, chips, electronic equipment, design techniques, tools, and principles to resolve complex issues in creative and effective ways. Apply knowledge of engineering principles, best practices, and technologies to the design, development, and testing of various AMD products.

Qualifications: Degree required

Master’s degree or foreign equivalent in Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or related field.

Qualifications: Amount and type of experience required: Three (3) years of experience in the job offered or closely related engineering role.

Alternate combination of education and experience: Employer will accept alternate combination of education and experience: Bachelor’s degree or foreign equivalent in Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or related field and five (5) years of progressive post-baccalaureate experience in the job offered or closely related engineering role.

Specific skills required: The following skills are required:

Position requires two (2) years of experience in the following:

1.Logic and circuit design;

2.SOC or system architecture;

3.RTL Design and coding;

4.Verilog, System Verilog, or VHDL;

5.ASIC Design tools (synthesis, simulation, equivalence checking, static timing analysis);

6.Design flows and methodologies used for chip verification;

7.Submicron ASIC design flow;

8.Back-end or front-end EDA tools; and

9.Python, C, C++, Perl, TCL, or Shell.
