Job Role and Responsibility: AMD, Inc., is hiring PMTS Silicon Design Engineer to Research, design, develop, and/or test electronic components and systems for semiconductors and related devices, employing knowledge of electronic theory. Lead definition, design, verification, and/or documentation for ASIC development. Determine architecture design, logic design, and/or system simulation. Define module interfaces/formats for simulation. Lead the development of multidimensional designs involving the layout of complex integrated circuits. Evaluate and make technical decisions regarding all aspects of the process flow from high-level designs to synthesis, place and route, and timing and power use. Serve as technical leader across project or departmental boundaries to develop ASIC/layout design, working on issues that impact design or selling success or address future concepts, products, or technologies. Drive projects or processes of significant technical importance. Exercise wide latitude in determining objectives and approaches to critical assignments. Utilize expertise with computers and electronics, including circuit boards, processors, chips, electronic equipment, design techniques, tools, and principles to develop resolution to critical issues and broad design matters. Apply knowledge of engineering principles, best practices, and technologies to the design, development, and testing of various AMD products.

Qualifications: Degree required
Master’s degree or foreign equivalent in Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Electronics Engineering, or related field.
Qualifications: Amount and type of experience required: Six (6) years of experience in job offered or as an Applications Engineer, closely related engineering role.
Alternate combination of education and experience: Employer will alternatively accept a bachelor’s degree or foreign equivalent in Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Electronics Engineering, or related field and eight (8) years of progressive post-baccalaureate experience in the job offered or as an Applications Engineer, closely related engineering role.
Specific skills required: The following skills are required:
Position requires five (5) years of experience in the following:
- ASIC Design and RTL design and coding;
- Full Chip timing closure, including signal integrity, RC extraction, and clock tree synthesis;
- Chip Design utilizing CAD tools (Synopsys and Cadence);
- RTL and Power Specification Checking;
- Preparing automation of flows & design environments using Perl, TCL, or Shell;
- Performing physical verification of hardware; and
- Full Chip Floor planning;
