LOCATION: San Jose, CA
PROGRAM TERM: Summer 2024: May 20 – August 9, 2024
ONSITE: This role requires the student to work from the LOCATION office throughout the duration of the Co-op/Intern term. First-time Co-ops/Interns should work full-time and onsite.
WHAT YOU’LL BE DOING:
AMD’s Adaptive & Embedded Compute Group’s Product Verification team is responsible for developing state-of-the-art test solutions for FPGAs, 3D-ICs, Programmable SoCs, and ACAPs. We are looking for a talented, self-driven and motivated co-op / intern to join our team of experienced and accomplished engineers.
As a DFT Engineer Co-op / Intern, you will be working with cutting-edge AMD Versal devices, including next generation ACAPs. Based on TSMC’s 7nm technology, ACAPs are ideally suited to accelerate a broad set of applications in the emerging era of 5G, big data and artificial intelligence. As part of test solutions development, you will be using AMD industry leading Vivado Design Suite to develop RTL based test designs and Vitis Software Platform to develop diagnostic firmware for failure analysis.
In this position, you will have a unique and exciting opportunity to use your design, debug, and verification skills to test, verify and validate FPGA Fabric resources in Combinatorial-Logic-Blocks (CLBs), Interconnect Matrices, and High-Speed Clock Distribution Networks. You will develop hardware designs for testing AMD Versal devices, and in return, you will gain valuable hands-on experiences as part of your career development. You will also have unique opportunities to connect with AMD leaders, receive one-on-one mentorship, attend amazing networking events, and much more.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Develop hardware designs using RTL simulations.
- Develop firmware using C code that runs on on-chip embedded Microcontroller.
- Run hardware / firmware tests on AMD Versal devices using bench tester.
- Debug and diagnose failures using bench equipment (oscilloscope / function generator)
- Write custom automation tools to analyze volume data.
KEY QUALIFICATIONS:
- RTL design language: Verilog.
- Scripting language running in Linux environment: Perl / Python / TCL / CSH.
- Programming language: C / C++.
WHAT WOULD SET YOU APART:
- Understanding of IC design and verification concepts.
- Understanding of IC design test methodology and fault models analysis.
- Experience in working with FPGA is a plus.

- Currently pursuing a BS / MS / PhD degree in Electrical / Electronic / Computer Engineering.
- Excellent engineer with an innovative and problem-solving mindset.
- Self-motivated individual that is diligent and passionate about developing scalable manufacturing test solutions.
- Organized person that works efficiently and independently in a fast-paced environment.
- Team player with strong communication and collaboration skills while working with multiple engineering teams spanning different time zones and across multiple continents.
