HybridThe Sensor Controls & Electronics (SCE) Department in the Electrical Engineering Directorate at Raytheon is seeking an experienced Senior Principal level electrical engineer in the development and implementation of FPGA based designs for control and/or signal processing radar applications. The individual will be required to provide development support throughout product lifecycle, from initial concept to acceptance delivery to maintenance.
Applicant will work as part of a highly motivated team environment and will be collaborating with cross-functional project teams making up a larger program or internal research and development efforts. Our engineers are assigned to a manager of approximately 20 employees with similar skills. Each section manager is responsible for their members’ performance, career development and assigning tasks that balance the employees’ interests with current needs of the project teams.
This position can be for the Tewksbury, MA location or the Marlborough, MA location.
What Will You Do:
Owning or contributing to the successful completion of FPGA-based designs, on time and on budget
Working with a team to determine the technical approach or solution to meet system level requirements
May lead small teams and mentor junior engineers
Demonstrate self-motivation, with little supervision required
Design and deliver production quality FPGA releases from initial proof of concept up to production
Work cooperatively with systems, hardware, software engineers, and program management to ensure product success
Architect FPGA-based systems to determine parts, interfaces, and Concept of Operations (CONOPS)
Translate system level requirements into FPGA requirements
Design and code in VHDL for reliability and maintainability
Verify designs utilizing self-checking techniques with directed and constrained random tests, while tracking functional and code coverage
Create complete documentation including requirements, verification plan, and user’s guides
Support internal and external technical reviews
Mentoring junior engineers
Support occasional domestic travel and potential international travel
Qualifications You Must Have:
Bachelor of Science degree in Electrical Engineering or equivalent discipline
Minimum of 10 years of professional experience designing FPGAs using VHDL/Verilog
Experience designing and integrating with AMD/Xilinx, Intel/Altera or Actel/Microsemi/Microchip FPGAs
Experience using synthesis tools: Synplify, Xilinx Vivado, or Intel Quartus Pro
Experience with Timing Closure and utilizing Chipscope / Signal Tap
The ability to obtain and maintain a U.S. government issued security clearance is required. U.S. citizenship is required, as only U.S. citizens are eligible for a security clearance.
Qualifications We Value:
15+ years of professional experience designing FPGAs using VHDL/Verilog
Experience using RTL simulation tools such as Questasim
Experience with RADAR system hardware
Existing security clearance

The salary range for this role is 118,000 USD - 246,000 USD. The salary range provided is a good faith estimate representative of all experience levels.
