BAE Systems’ Precision Strike (PS) Business Area has an opening for an FPGA Design Engineer for the Precision Guidance and Sensing Solutions (PGSS) Product Line.
As an FPGA Engineer with BAE Systems you will...
- Translate firmware requirements into Hardware Description Language (HDL) designs
- Evaluate FPGA performance using simulation tools
- Resolve code synthesis issues
- Integrate code in a laboratory environment
- Create design documentation

This role will be staffed in our new and expanded facilities in Huntsville, Alabama. In Huntsville, our Engineering team is working in a recently opened state of the art facility and operating in a unique environment where we have the power and resources of BAE Systems behind us while working in a dynamic and flexible model with the feel of a start-up. Please note that pursuant to a government contract, this specific position requires US citizenship status.
Because of the need for consistent, in-person collaboration and/or the requirement to perform all work onsite due to the nature of this particular role, it will be performed full-time on site. This means work will be conducted on location at a BAE Systems facility 100% of the time.

Required Education, Experience, & Skills
- Ability to obtain/maintain a DoD security clearance is required.
- Bachelor of Science degree in Electrical or Computer Engineering and 8+ years of relevant work experience
- Experience in the design, test, debug and fielding of FPGAs with understanding of embedded processors, microcontrollers, and VHDL based FPGAs
- Motivated self-starter and problem solver
- Demonstrated leadership capabilities in a team environment with strong written and verbal communication skills

Preferred Education, Experience, & Skills
- Experience with Digital Signal Processing (DSP) techniques such as FFT, FIR and IIR filters
- Experience with Vivado, Quartus, or Libero
- Scripting using TCL, Perl, Unix shells
- Knowledge of memory interfaces such as DDR, QSPI
- Knowledge of data transfer protocols such as PCIe, Ethernet, JESD 204, I2C, JTAG
